A surgical eyelid lift, also known as blepharoplasty, is a popular facial rejuvenation treatment. In 2017, the most recent year with available statistics, blepharoplasty was in the top 5 most popular cosmetic surgical procedures with more than 200,000 surgeries performed in the U.S. At STC Plastic Surgery, the eyelid lift is one of our most popular procedures.
The goal of blepharoplasty is to rejuvenate the delicate skin on the eyelids and around the eyes. We realize that each patient ages differently and focus on providing a customizable surgical experience to each patient. With our eyelid surgeries, we offer an upper eyelid blepharoplasty, a lower eyelid blepharoplasty, and a combination treatment that rejuvenates both eyelids. These procedures can also be paired with other facial cosmetic treatments. Eyelid surgery is especially popular with our facelift patients.
You may be a good candidate for an eyelid lift if you’re in good health and have realistic expectations for this procedure. Come in for a consultation and we’ll help you decide if blepharoplasty could benefit you.
Eyelid surgery can:
- Remove puffy fat pads and bags from under the eyes
- Rejuvenate puffy lower eyelids
- Tighten drooping or sagging upper eyelids
Some patients think they need eyelid surgery but are really struggling with drooping brows. If this is the case, Dr. Machida may recommend a brow lift instead.
For deep troughs and hollows under the eyes, dermal fillers are the solution. These injectable fillers restore volume to the eye area, filling in creases, dimples, hollows, and sunken in areas. Dr. Machida will use a small needle to precisely inject the filler. Most patients will require several small injections throughout the treatment area.
Dr. Machida prides himself on smooth and natural looking filler results. To ensure the best possible outcome from each treatment, Dr. Machida always begins a filler session with a consultation. He’ll evaluate the facial structure and mark the skin as needed to ensure that fillers are accurately placed. He occasionally takes photographs to use as a reference during the injections. The injections don’t take a lot of time, but Dr. Machida carefully places each one.
Dermal fillers are a non-surgical treatment. We often pair filler treatments with injectable BOTOX® to smooth out crow’s feet and lines between the brows.
Which Option Is Best for Me?
Fillers and eyelid surgery can transform the eye area. Which option is best for you? Come in for a consultation and Dr. Machida can discuss your options for eye rejuvenation. Generally, fillers are best for filling in hollows and creases. Choose eyelid surgery if you have puffiness or excess skin on either the upper or lower eyelids.
