Facelift in Inland Empire during the Pandemic? It Could Be a Great Idea

“The pandemic has caused a boom in plastic surgery,” Bloomberg reported.   The New York Times stated in its article “Don’t Like What You See on Zoom? Get a Face-Lift and Join the Crowd:”

At a time when many medical fields are reeling from lockdowns when lucrative elective work was postponed, cosmetic surgery procedures are surging, practitioners say, driven by unexpected demand from patients who have found the coronavirus pandemic a perfect moment for corporeal upgrades.

As you can see, many are getting facelifts during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Is that a good idea?  Sometimes, a negative situation can actually provide a great opportunity.  A number of classics like Short Stories by O. Henry, History of the World by Sir Walter Raleigh, Gandhi’s autobiography and even parts of the Bible were written while their writer was imprisoned.  These writers made good use of a bad situation.  So, if you’re seeing troubling signs of aging when you look in the mirror, could now be the best time to get a facelift, neck lift or blepharoplasty in Inland Empire?

Looking good makes a big difference when you’re looking for a job

COVID-19 has had a major impact on the economy.  Some businesses are expanding, providing opportunities for advancement.  But many people have been laid off and are now looking for work.  Does your appearance make a difference?  Experts, citing years of research, say that it does.

Respected business journal Forbes reported:

Physically attractive individuals are more likely to be interviewed for jobs and hired, they are more likely to advance rapidly in their careers through frequent promotions, and they earn higher wages than unattractive individuals.

Cornell HR Review, published by Ivy League Cornell University, stated:

Given the high-stakes nature of job acquisition, many researchers have asked, for example, whether attractive job candidates are more likely to be hired than their peers.  Overwhelmingly, the answer is yes…Furthermore, physically attractive job candidates are also offered higher starting salaries than their less attractive peers.

Those higher salaries paid to good-looking workers can really add up.  Additional research revealed:

Another study found that “an American worker who was among the bottom one-third in looks…earned 10 to 15 percent less per year than a similar worker whose looks were assessed in the top one-third- a lifetime difference, in a typical case, of about $230,000.”

Unfortunately, the advantage enjoyed by attractive workers is outweighed by the disadvantage suffered by unattractive employees.  It can cause real problems, considering all the layoffs spawned by the pandemic.  The Forbes article warned:

Unsurprisingly, the beauty bias transfers into the workplace, with scientific studies showing that less attractive individuals are more likely to get fired, even though they are also less likely to be hired in the first place.

Years of studies by human resources professionals and psychologists alike show that attractive people are more readily hired, receive higher salaries, get promoted, and keep their jobs.  Less attractive people have a harder time finding work, get lower salaries, and are more likely to lose their jobs.  Improving your appearance, like a good education, is often a wise investment.

Facelift downtime impact is reduced when you’re working from home

The present situation provides a real opportunity for people who are working from home.  Your coworkers may not even notice you’ve had plastic surgery during the coronavirus pandemic.  A facelift normally requires 7-10 days of downtime for recovery.  Unless you have vacation time coming, that can be hard to do.  But if, like many people, you’re working from home, it should be pretty easy.

The facelift method that I use, for instance, often allows you to talk on the phone just one 3-day weekend after your procedure.  You could participate in conference calls without anyone knowing you’ve had work done.  By the 4th day, you can usually cover up the evidence of your recent surgery with makeup.  That should allow you to participate in Zoom meetings without anyone catching on.  In a week to a week and a half, you’ll look years younger without anyone needing to know why.

Is it safe to have a facelift during the coronavirus pandemic?

Actually, during the pandemic, a facial plastic surgeon’s office may be one of the safest places in Inland Empire.  Many plastic and facial plastic surgeons have outstanding procedures in place to protect patients from infection, as you can see in “Is Plastic Surgery or a Facelift Safe During the COVID-19 Pandemic? on LookYounger.News.

Here at STC Plastic Surgery in Ontario, Inland Empire California, we stagger appointments to avoid patients coming into contact with one another.  We take each patient’s temperature.  We do the same with our staff before they start their shift.  Everyone must certify that they have no symptoms or risks for transmitting the virus.

Each room you might enter has an air purification system to filter out and kill viruses.  That addresses the main way COVID-19 spreads.  Between patients, we disinfect everything you might touch, including furniture, clipboards and pens.  Hand sanitizer is available in every room.  And despite extensive success in performing nose jobs, we’ve suspended rhinoplasties to protect our staff and patients.

You’re often far safer coming to a facial plastic surgeon’s office than going to the grocery store, the pharmacy or the liquor store.  Who thinks twice about going there?  In fact, based on recent research you’re probably safer here than indoors at home for a meal or party with family and friends.

Facelift during the coronavirus pandemic – a valuable opportunity

Why not join Sir Walter Raleigh, Gandhi and the apostles John and Paul and make the best of a bad situation?  It will take some time for the economy to recover from COVID-19.  Wouldn’t it be wise to put yourself in a better position by improving your appearance?

Research reveals that looking your best can help you keep your job or get a higher-paying position.  Studies also show that looking good helps you feel better about yourself.  It can cause people to judge you far more favorably.

Isn’t now a good time to meet with a highly experienced board-certified plastic or facial plastic surgeon?  You can do it virtually or in-person.  If you’re thinking about a neck lift, blepharoplasty or facelift in Inland Empire, feel free to contact me at STC Plastic Surgery in Ontario.
